Twelve days until Christmas and the Dixon family celebration is well underway, complete with a burgandized mall Santa, a free Christmas tree that smells like freshly mowed grass, and a Colin James holiday concert that hasn't happened yet. Meanwhile, Michelle teases you with Hollywood trivia; the fallout of Flick Swap's Corpse Bride assignment; the kids help review the two latest Land Before Time releases from Universal; offering up film and television related gift giving ideas; and a preview of next week's Christmas episode. This week's explosive new episode starts off by addressing raging The Goonies action figure controversy, followed closely by: Ray Park being cast as Snake Eyes in the upcoming G.I. Joe blockbuster film; Dave's pre-release review of Michael Cera's new film Juno; Mac's preview of the new Massachusetts Roller Derby season; a look at the December 12 upcoming releases, overwhelmed by Harry Potter mania; Heroes: Season 2 vs. Lost: Season 3; and it all comes down to the Ambush Topics: Memorable jet packs (Arrested Development, anyone?), Librarians on film, Favorite Toadies (Villain sidekicks), and Movie scenes that creep you out, but may appear goofy to others. It's full-on winter in Alberta, complete with frigid temps, reckless driving, and plenty of time to review DVDs. First up, Kent tackles Corrina, Corrina as his Flick Swap assignment where we learn it was one of Tina Majorino's (Napoleon Dynamite) first film roles. Next week, Michelle is tasked with reviewing Tim Burton's Corpse Bride. In the meantime, these two brave souls tackle the latest releases from The Wiggles and the Teletubbies. Brave souls indeed. Dave and Mac are triumphantly reunited, following Mac's diabolical computer crash three weeks ago. Sadly, this unfortunate setback booted Mac's Vampire/Dragon novel out of the "Write a novel in one month" contest. On a happier note, the boys spend this episode dissecting Bob Zemekis' BEOWULF in 2D and 3D and the quirky new documentary THE KING OF KONG; suffering the wasteland of new television due to the writer's strike; Mac's take on Cartoon Network's live-action BEN 10 movie; and perusing the upcoming releases for December 4th, including PIRATES 3, SUPERBAD, NANNY DIARIES, 24: SEASON 6, and BSG: SEASON ONE in HD. While it may take them a couple episode to regain their groove, Ambush Topics like these will carry them through: Hammers on film; Creatures with more than one head; Memorable tentacles; Who wins in a tag team cage match between Aragorn & Boromir and Inigo & Westley? You make the call. Enjoy! You can email the boys your questions, complaints, and suggestions at fridayfilibuster@dvdverdict.com, or show your support by voting for us at Podcast Alley, and Digg. Kent falls prey to Strep Throat in this week's shortened, snow covered show. Thankfully, Michelle is here to pick up the slack, with her Flick Swap review of Alabamian Lucas Black's annoying accent in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift; and they both tackle two non-Disney, Discovery Kids' series: the cheesy, horribly acted Flight 29 Down and the mildly amusing Kenny the Shark. Top it off with teasers of upcoming shorts and you have a bite-sized nugget of entertainment. Enjoy! In this special quarantined episode, Kent and Michelle return to share the shocking truth behind the differences between Canadian and American Thanksgiving; the presence of Scurvy, Scarlet Fever, and the Black Plague in their home; Kent's love for Richard Gere comes shining through in his Flick Swap review of AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMEN; and the family's take on THE CHUCK JONES COLLECTION, the adventures at WAYSIDE, jumping into the middle of the story of AVATAR: THE LAST AIR BENDER, and a quick look at what's coming up next week, all while Sidney the demon beagle terrorizes the studio. In a two-part interview, Chief Justice Michael Stailey brings you both a group Q&A with Pixar director Brad Bird from the recent Disney Blu-ray event in Hollywood, and a personal one-on-one in which we learn just how different RATATOUILLE would have been had he not been brought on board.
